The theme for this year is Imagine Your Story, and what a story we will have to tell in years to come! Summer Reading will look a lot different this year, but we are excited to still bring you opportunities to read and have fun this summer.
Due to concerns about large gatherings, we will not be holding any in-person programs at the library or parks this year. Instead, we have created some awesome take-home boxes filled with (almost) all the supplies you need for six weeks of Summer Reading fun! Each box contains the materials necessary for 12 activities, and video instructions for each one will be posted on our YouTube channel and Facebook. You can pick up a box, along with a free book, beginning June 1.
Rather than our normal, boring reading logs, we will be handing out BINGO cards each week. Each card has 16 activities or suggestions for you to try, and they will be different every week. You can hand in your cards to earn prizes in the following ways:
– A single BINGO handed in each week will earn a brag tag. Collect a new one each week!
– Multiple BINGOs on one card will get you a brag tag and a piece of candy for each additional BINGO.
– A blackout will earn an entry into a drawing of your choice for one of four prizes. There will be a Kindle Fire, an Imagine Your Story themed basket, a STEM basket, and a crafty basket.
The drawings for prizes will take place on July 17, and winners will be notified by phone.
Summer Reading is open to all children ages 0-11, and you do not have to live inside the city or even have a library card to participate. We do have Child Cards available for $2 to those who want them, which allows children to check out two books at a time.
